Jon Hamm and Reggie Watts improving a song about “Taxi” in clip from Comedy Bang Bang as posted by Snail. June 8th can’t come soon enough. Also, there’s also no such thing as too much Jon Hamm.

Dear Dairy,
Don’t ever let me drink that much again on a basically empty stomach, give or take a few frites.
At the Waverly Diner with Snail and Jon2morrow, post-sloshing/awesome reunion at our favorite new spot, Top 40 radio playing but I only remember Aerosmith - “I Dont Want to Miss a Thing” too busy laughing/hoping to puke.
Past 1am, too focused on not throwing up on the bus home to listen to anything.
Got home, dropped into bed, clothes and all, to sleep until a little past 5:30am. Can no longer sleep after my dad woke me up to ask my why I didn’t call when I got home. Now all I want is my pops to make me some fries and a egg done over easy. The father complies, automatically upgrades to the best person ever. Happily and still partially drunk, I eat my greasefest and hope for an itis that never comes. Still can’t sleep and try to see if Foals’ Total Life Forever would work. It doesn’t. Especially since all I want to do is move to the groove and sing the songs at this juncture.
Listened to “2 Trees” about 3 times and cried every time my favorite part came up.
It’s now 9am, finished up the Foals album and tried to listen to Everything Everything’s “Come Alive Diana” and indulge in Jonathan Higgs’ falsettos but 45 seconds in I get distracted by a Tumblr post from crystal eyes, a youtube video of Aphex Twin - “Flim.” I used to listen to Aphex Twin’s Come to Daddy EP a ton when I worked with Snail at my first wiritng/editing job. This brought me back to in-office MSN chats on an mysteriously stank-ass Macbook, the genesis of our nicknames and somehow finding out that Ingmar Bergman died and being super sad about it. I don’t remember this song being directly connected to receiving this news but it reminds me of that anyhow. He (or she?) also posted a 30 second YouTube clip of a Burial song I listened to.
Clock Opera - ”Man Made” via Hot Shit. Only knowing this band through a remix they did for EE I decided to check it out this original song. It’s nothing special but I really like the music video and the Scottish actress who stars in it.
Talked to Val on the phone for a post-celebration hangover update ended up cackling about a ton of stuff as per usual. She sang the “What Up With That?” Theme outloud after living the first lines of the song this morning.
Poliça - Give You The Ghost album stream on SoundCloud via Snailentine. Our first listen prompted a random buying of tickets of their show at Maxwell’s this weekend. Hooray for active social lives!
Bonde do Role - “Kilo” music video on YouTube. Snail linked me to this and Diplo had been plugging this shit all day. I hadn’t listened to them since Marina left so this fed my curiosity about their new singer. Verdict: The song is irritating mostly because of her voice. The video itself is pretty stupid, too, although that’s probably half on purpose. I miss Marina.
Depeche Mode - ”Only When I Lose Myself” via music video on YouTube Another terrible video for an awesome song haha.
2:54 - ”The March” via Stereogum
TNGHT - “Bugg’n” Hudmo x Lunice, worth a listen via their YouTube channel
Tried to sleep. Accomplished an hour. The void in my stomach returned my brain rationalized that fat and carbs was the only cure so I opted for the Veggie Cheeseburger and small fries from Burger King. I was wrong. Drank some ginger/chamomile/green apple tea my dad made from scratch and I no longer felt like ass. No itis to speak of, still, damn it! So I start watching Paddy Considine’s Tyrannosaur to see if I can sleep. WRONG AGAIN. It’s emotionally draining, my anxiety is actin up so still no real sleep.
Next attempt, listening to some mellow jams. Ooooh, How about some Sigur Rós?
We’re going to see INNI at City Winery next week thought I’d listen to them since it’s been forever. Agætus Byrjun on the iPod.
Sigur Rós -“Svefn-g-englar”
Sigur Rós - “Starálfur” Forgot this song was on here and was instantly worried it would make me weep like it does during THAT scene in The Life Aquatic. I did not, phew.
Sigur Rós - “Flugufrelsarinn” Pretty much looped this so much I lost count. This always happens when I try to listen to this album all the way through. I always think of the scene in Trainspotting where Renton goes to score at Mother Superior’s and sinks into the floor while “Perfect Day” playing. This song makes me feel like I’m sinking away from everything beyond me and headed towards more and more inwards.
I fell asleep eventually, no sounds from my iPod included.
Next time, I’ll pass on the third fourth Duvel, k? thxbai
